Christ the Savior Anglican Church Core Beliefs

Bible

We believe the Bible to be the complete Word of God.

  • That the 66 books of the Old and New Testament were inspired by the Spirit of God as originally written.
  • That the Bible is the final authority in all matters of faith and conduct (2 Timothy 3:16)

God

We believe in one God, Creator of all, holy, sovereign, eternal, existing in three equal Persons, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit

Jesus Christ

We believe that our Lord Jesus Christ is fully God and fully human

  • In His eternal existence, with the Father
  • In His work of creation, His virgin birth, sinless life, substitutionary death, and bodily resurrection
  • In His triumphant ascension, that he is the only mediator between God and humanity, and that He will return in glory

The Holy Spirit

We believe in the Holy Spirit who proceeds from the Father and the Son

  • Who convicts us of sin, and leads us into righteousness
  • Who leads us into all truth and points us to Jesus
  • Who comforts and counsels us
  • Who baptizes believers and bestows upon them His gifts as He wills and fills those yielded to Him

Mankind

We believe that Adam and Eve were divinely created in the image of God

  • That by disobeying God they fell into sin and disobedience
  • That all their offspring are tainted by that same propensity toward sin and disobedience
  • That all people therefore are guilty before God and condemned to physical and spiritual death
  • That all people need the saving grace offered only in and through Jesus Christ

Salvation

We believe that salvation is by the sovereign grace of God

  • That by the Father, Christ voluntarily suffered death in our place
  • That justification is by faith alone in the all-sufficient sacrifice and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ
  • That salvation occurs with the confession of Jesus as Savior and as Lord, and that sanctification is an ongoing process of growing more Christ-like beginning at our point of salvation and continuing until our physical death
